Glossary Curator
Turn your own terminology list into a NoteSecutive glossary file.
Your terms never leave this computer. This page does the whole conversion in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and we never see your glossary. You can disconnect from the internet after this page loads and it will still work.
Prepare a spreadsheet with one term per row, save it as CSV or Excel, drop it below, and tell
this page which column is which. You'll get back a .nsglossary file to open on
your iPad. Importing it needs an active NoteSecutive subscription.
Choose your file
Match your columns
Showing the first few rows as NoteSecutive will read them.
Name it and set the languages
NoteSecutive searches personal glossaries from both directions, so you only need each pair once — you do not need a second file with the columns reversed.
Check and download
Getting it onto your iPad
Any way you'd move a normal file works, because .nsglossary is registered to
NoteSecutive:
- AirDrop it to the iPad and choose NoteSecutive when asked what to open it with.
- Email it to yourself and tap the attachment.
- Save it to Files or iCloud Drive, then in NoteSecutive open Setup → My Glossaries → Import a glossary.
However it arrives, NoteSecutive always asks before importing — a file opening the app never changes your glossaries on its own.
What gets skipped, and why
A row with no term isn't a glossary entry, and a row with no translation can't answer a lookup, so both are dropped. This page counts them and shows you which rows they were before you download — a glossary that quietly loses half its rows is worse than one that refuses to build.
Rows where the same term appears more than once are kept, all of them, and flagged. Duplicates are usually deliberate — one term with two accepted renderings — and deleting one for you would be us deciding which of your renderings was wrong.
If you don't have a spreadsheet yet
Two columns is enough. Put the term in the first, the translation in the second, add a third for notes if you want one, and save as CSV. Any spelling of the column titles works — you tell this page which is which in step 2.
